Pat McGrath Divine Rose 2 & Flesh 7 Divinyl Lip Shines Reviews & Swatches
Divine Rose 2
Pat McGrath Divine Rose 2 Divinyl Lip Shine ($36.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a medium pink with warmer undertones and a luminous sheen without pearl. It had semi-sheer color coverage, which was buildable to medium coverage with a second layer.
The texture was smooth, emollient, and more balm-like, so it had more give as it warmed up against my lips but never felt stiff. The color applied evenly and was fairly forgiving of natural lip texture/imperfections. It lasted decently for three and a half hours and felt lightly hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$36.00/0.08 oz. - $450.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to offer "mirror-esque" shine with "rich color" that has a lot of "hydration." It's part of the brand's Lip Fetish range, which is a lip balm-based formula, but these appear to be the higher coverage offering within the various finishes available. They have a smooth, balm-like feel--light glide but not overly slippery, lightweight, and comfortable to apply and to wear.
The texture felt smooth and warmed up against my lips, which gave it a bit more slip, but the formula looked glossier than it actually felt with respect to slip, so it didn't end up being a high-maintenance formula--I didn't experience feathering/bleeding personally.
The weakness is in the wear time, which is three to four hours on most shades, and they don't have strong staining abilities (at least not based on the existing shade range). Otherwise, they offered semi-opaque to opaque coverage that applied evenly, smoothly, but it wasn't the most forgiving of imperfections. I always exfoliate my lips prior to doing lip swatches, but there were still a few shades that clung more noticeably to imperfections, though not all shades did so.
The formula felt moderately hydrating, though I don't find it as hydrating top tier lip balm formulations. They have a light, sweet vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

Flesh 7
Pat McGrath Flesh 7 Divinyl Lip Shine ($36.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a medium-dark plum with subtle, warm undertones and warmer, lighter gold/copper pearl that gave it a pearly sheen. It had semi-opaque color coverage, which was buildable to mostly opaque coverage.
The product applied evenly across my lips without tugging, and the shine and pearl seemed to soften my lip lines while being forgiving of imperfections in lip texture. It had a smooth, balm-like texture that felt more emollient as it warmed up against my lips, but it was never stiff to work with. It stayed on nicely for four hours and felt moisturizing over time.

Just NO! For the price, once again I’ll opt for Sephora’s Rouge Lacquer lipsticks or the Revlon Super Lustrous Glass Lipshine. I find the prices of these glorified lip glosses being put out by high end companies to be pretty unacceptable (to me) – the prices of some of these things are getting outrageous (almost $50 here in Canada, which far out-reaches the exchange rate). Three to four hours of wear??? I’ll take Sephora instead!
Mmmmm, I want to buy Flesh 7! (She’s running out of numbers for Flesh, LOL). This is just so pretty and perfect for anytime, too.
Divine Rose 2 is nice, but I have Lady Stardust, so I’m set.
Lovely shades, but for a little old lip shine these are really expensive. And by the time you get to ‘Flesh 7’ it’s time to create a new name…..I can’t keep up with all of these convoluted names and numerals.
I like plummy lips, so Flesh 7, I wonder if the company find it hard to think of names, is one I like. I had a dupe, hidden quite a long way down the list, Clinique Black Honey. I also have at least one of the Revlon dupes on my wish list, and would rather buy a cheaper one as sheerer formulas don’t last long on my lips.
