How could brands improve their swatches?

They could shoot in more natural light and brighter/studio light so that you get a better grasp of texture/sparkle. I’d also like to see less heavily edited swatches.

I wish they were more specific in likes/dislikes and compared it to what they expected (or wanted). I’d also like to see less products rated poorly because they didn’t like the color (which is fine, but what about

How much do you trust customer reviews?

Somewhat! I find I need to remove any incentivized reviews, even though some might be trustworthy, and stick to those who are verified purchasers. I also look for reviews with at least a few sentences!

In general, I do use them, but for beauty, I find it requires a lot of sifting and with beauty already being a more “your mileage may vary” kind of category, I don’t always use reviews when making a purchase.

Dandy Lions eyeshadows, which I have not formally reviewed, but have a huge color selection and work for more buildable application, especially for unusual colored mattes.
